We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. This means we decide how and why your personal data is used. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us using the details above.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways.

Information you give us directly, when you book a free trial, enquire about our courses, or contact us. Through our booking form, this includes your name, phone or WhatsApp number, your child’s age, and your preferred teacher (male or female). If you contact us by email or through payment, we will also hold the email address you use to reach us.

Information collected during lessons, such as attendance records, progress notes, and feedback shared between teachers and parents, so we can track a student’s learning journey.

Payment information, when you subscribe to a paid plan. Card details are processed directly by our payment provider and are not stored on our own systems.

Technical information, collected automatically when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and how you interact with our pages. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal data we collect to:

  1. Arrange and deliver free trial lessons and ongoing Quran classes
  2. Match students with a suitable teacher based on gender preference
  3. Process payments and manage subscriptions
  4. Send lesson confirmations and schedule updates by phone or WhatsApp
  5. Respond to enquiries sent through our contact form, phone, WhatsApp, or email
  6. Improve our courses, website, and teaching quality
  7. Meet our legal, safeguarding, and regulatory obligations
  8. Send updates about our courses where you have agreed to receive them, which you may opt out of at any time

4. Our Lawful Basis for Processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  1. Contract, to provide the lessons and services you have booked or subscribed to
  2. Consent, for marketing communications and, where relevant, for processing a child’s personal data
  3. Legitimate interests, to run and improve our business, such as understanding how families use our services
  4. Legal obligation, where we are required to keep certain records, for example for tax or safeguarding purposes

Where we rely on consent, you have the right to withdraw it at any time.

5. Children’s Personal Data

Because many of our students are children, we take particular care with their personal data.
Where a student is under 13, the booking is made by a parent or guardian, who provides consent on the child’s behalf. We only collect the information needed to arrange a suitable lesson, namely the child’s age and a preferred teacher, and we do not ask for unnecessary personal details.

Parents and guardians can review, update, or ask us to delete their child’s information at any time by contacting us. Teachers are DBS checked and lessons are conducted in a manner appropriate for young learners, in line with our Safeguarding Policy.

6. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

  1. Our teachers, so they can prepare for and deliver your lessons
  2. Payment processors, to handle subscription billing securely
  3. Video conferencing and communication tools, used to deliver online lessons
  4. Messaging providers, used to send booking confirmations and updates by WhatsApp
  5. Professional advisers or authorities, where required by law, such as HMRC or safeguarding bodies

Any third party we share data with is required to keep it secure and only use it for the purpose we specify.

7. International Transfers

Some of the tools we use to deliver lessons or communicate with you, such as video conferencing or messaging platforms, may store or process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data is protected to a standard consistent with UK GDPR, including relying on providers that offer appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function properly, understand how visitors use the site, and, where applicable, support marketing. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. For more detail on the specific cookies we use, see our Cookie Policy.

9. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected.

  1. Enquiry and trial booking details are kept for a reasonable period to follow up, and deleted if no lesson is booked
  2. Active student and family records are kept for the duration of enrolment and for a period afterward in case a family returns
  3. Financial records are kept for as long as required by law, generally six years, for tax purposes
  4. Safeguarding-related records are kept in line with our Safeguarding Policy

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.

10. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  1. Ask us what personal data we hold about you and request a copy of it
  2. Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  3. Ask us to delete your data, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it
  4. Object to or restrict certain types of processing
